WHEN BRIGG TOWN FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL MIGHT RESUME

Brigg Town Football Club's first team will be out of action for at least the next month due to the Tier 3 Coronavirus emergency restrictions now in force. The Zebras were due to visit East Hull tomorrow (Saturday, December 5).
Kindly keeping Brigg Blog informed about when matches might resume, Jim Huxford (on behalf of the club) told us: "Jan 2021 at the earliest."
So there will be no Boxing Day home game for first team followers to enjoy at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) this year.
The ToolStation Northern Counties East League held a management board meeting this week and decided to postpone all matches until January.
Due to emergency restrictions, the only possible alternative was to play games 'behind closed doors' (without spectators present in the stands) but a survey of clubs showed that 80 per cent were against this.
All but three NCEL teams are located within the new Tier 3 government category.
The league says: "Although the tier system will be reviewed every two weeks, indications are that most clubs will remain in Tier 3 for the foreseeable future so the situation is highly unlikely to change when the first review takes place on Wednesday 16th December, 2020.
"The NCEL will await the outcome of the second scheduled tier review on Wednesday 30th December, 2020, before considering whether matches can feasibly restart in January. A further update will follow once this decision is made."
Brigg Blog visited Town's ground at the weekend - some days before the important league meeting - when the Zebras were still advertising their next scheduled Division One home game against Hall Road Rangers for Saturday, December 12 (since cancelled).
The Zebras were due to host Skegness Town on December 26, which would have drawn a sizeable crowd (observing social distancing). However, enforced closure of the Hawthorns bar would not have helped some fans we could mention get into the Christmas spirit!
Brigg Town Reserves are without a scheduled game tomorrow in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier.
