Brigg Town Football Club returned to league action after an enforced lay-off but suffered defeat yesterday (Saturday, December 19).
The Zebras' first team went down 3-2 at Hallam as the ToolStation Northern Counties East competition resumed, having suspended games for some weeks during the Coronavirus emergency.
Brigg took the lead with a Jack Bowskin penalty just before the interval, and Andrew Taylor made it 2-0 on the hour.
However, the Sheffield side hit back strongly with three goals in six minutes midway through the second half.
Town hold down third spot in Division One, and their next scheduled game is on Saturday (December 26) against Skegness at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) with a limit of 150 placed on the attendance. Kick-off is 3pm.
Play still being suspended in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier, Brigg Town Reserves' home game with Nettleham was postponed yesterday.
The Football Association issued a statement to competitions across the country yesterday, saying: "It is extremely important that clubs, players, coaches, match officials, league officials, volunteers, parents, carers, and facility providers in Tiers 1 to 3 (and permitted football in Tier 4) continue to strictly follow both the UK Government's latest guidance on COVID-19 and respective bespoke guidance documents from The FA. Any incidents of non-compliance will be reported to the local County Football Association.
North Lincolnshire remains in Tier 3.
