FOR SALE: LARGE BRIGG TOWN CENTRE SITE 'OF INTEREST TO OWNER OCCUPIERS AND DEVELOPERS'

Land and buildings with "development potential" within Brigg town centre are now up for sale as the current owner says it no longer needs the 2.1-acre site. The extensive premises are to auctioned by well-known national property company Savills.
The agent says the Anglian Water Services depot, off Grammar School Road South, may have "commercial or residential development potential, subject to the requisite consents." The guide price is £150,000.
The L-shaped site includes workshops, stores, offices, kitchens/communal areas, four lock-up garages and a large parking area.
Savills says the site, which is now vacant, will be "of interest to owner occupiers and developers."

Signs advertising the sale have gone up outside the entrance to the depot, which has vehicular and pedestrian access from Grammar School Road South. The rear of the site is close to Old Courts Road.
Brigg Blog spotted the boards over the weekend and contacted Anglian Water for a comment about the sale and its future presence in our town.
A spokesman for the company has now replied, saying: "Sadly, over the years the depot has become increasingly under-utilised due to a change in working methods and shift patterns, to an extent that it’s no longer needed by the local operational teams. The building’s been of great use throughout the years but is no longer needed, so there are no immediate plans to relocate currently."
When we began reporting for the Lincolnshire & South Humberside Times from 57 Wrawby Street in 1980, Anglian Water had premises on Bridge Street, near the entrance to the cycle factory. The AWA was then responsible for flood prevention as well as providing clean water. We recall contacting staff for a number of River Ancholme articles relating to Brigg and the surrounding area.
