BRIGG TOWN BATSMAN IN THE RUNS

A Brigg Town Cricket Club batsman managed a half-century yesterday in the Lincolnshire County Cricket League, sponsored by Readers.
Unfortunately, it was not enough to save Town from defeat against Scunthorpe Town 3rds at the Hibaldstow ground.
Matthew Bell hit scored 55 but Brigg were bowled out for 143 in reply to Scunthorpe's 164 for six in their permitted 45 overs.
Jack Richards was Brigg's most effective bowler, taking three wickets for 43 runs.
Brigg took only 4 points from this fixture and have now lost top spot in division four with Cleethorpes 4ths the new leaders.
Brigg are without a fixture this Saturday (July 8).
But on Sunday they will be in Lincoln playing Old Lincolnians 2nds.

When I was at school, my mum use to buy me some Pontefract Cakes when I played cricket.
She'd heard somewhere that they would give me some extra runs!
