BRIGG ON TRACK WITH RECORD NUMBERS

Supporters on the Brigg railway line's passenger service are celebrating a record.
Saturday (April 15) saw "a remarkable increase" in passenger numbers, with 71 using the trains.
This was 14 more than the previous best of 57 recorded while the Friends of the Brigg Line have been active.
The "running total" of passengers using Brigg station during 2017 now stands at 398, compared to 181 during mid-April 2016.
That represents growth of more than 100 per cent in a year.
Publicity afforded to the Brigg line by rail campaigners is paying off, the word being spread far and wide into North-East Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
Three trains run in each direction on Saturdays between Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Barnetby, Brigg, Kirton Lindsey, Gainsborough, Retford and Sheffield.
Statistics above kindly compiled by Phil Hewson, of Brigg
