NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION COULD TACKLE BRIGG PIGEON PROBLEM

Brigg Blog recently reported several ways in which the town centre has been made more attractive to shoppers arriving in the main car park, off Old Courts Road, before walking into Wrawby Street.
Sadly, the same old problem continues down Cressey Yard - a long stretch of pigeon poo, slippery underfoot.
The authorities have taken measures in the past to get rid of pigeons flapping about in the town centre. Now, we suggest, it's time for further action. Could the powers-that-be make it a New Year's resolution?
The above picture was taken last summer but things were much the same when we took this route into the town centre today.

You have a point about pigeon poo, Nige......but no-one should have the misguided belief that pigeons are the equivalent of 'flying rats'.
Pigeons do carry diseases, but no more and often less than any other animal that folks come into contact.
Find solutions to reduce the concentrations of pigeon poo...without the urban myth that the pigeons need to be culled because they carry all sorts of diseases....
I'd much rather have town pigeons devouring dropped food litter instead of leaving such plentiful supplies for the town's rat population.
In an ideal world, a litter-free high street will deprive all animal species of food......rat populations will reduce, while pigeons will relocate to alternative food reserves...In the real world, pigeons are acting as street cleaners, scoffing much of the food that would otherwise become lunch for rats......
Every farm needs a cat: every high street needs something to sweep up food mess.....
