BRIGG CRICKETERS COLLECT AWARD

Brigg Town cricketers picked up the fourth division championship pennant during the Lincolnshire County Cricket League's annual dinner, held at Hemswell Court, near Caenby Corner, on Friday night.
This was for their efforts during the 2016 campaign.
Brigg Town's new season will begin on Saturday, April 22 with an away game against Cleethorpes 4ths at the Immingham Blossom Way Ground.

The first time Brigg Town Cricket Club gained one of the distinctive championship pennants from the Lincs League was in 1979, losing only two games all season in division three.
This was the campaign in which top all-rounder Garry "Gig" Smith performed the hat-trick twice in the same innings, on his way to a nine-wicket haul against Caistor.
How about a 40th anniversary reunion in 2019?
"Gig" lives in South Ferriby but comes to Brigg quite often to watch local football.
We chatted to him a few weeks ago at Sir John Nelthorpe School during a gave involving Briggensians FC.
