Although it's now looking very unlikely that Brigg community events planned on Friday, May 8 will go ahead because of the Coronavirus emergency, local households and individuals can still celebrate the 75th anniversay of VE Day (Victory in Europe, when Germany surrendered in 1945).
So let's raise a glass at home to mark this historic war-time milestone, and also remember those who lost their lives during the conflict.
Brigg Town Council erected new bunting in the town centre before lockdown was enforced.
However, celebratory events on licensed premises, and local street parties, seem set to be cancelled on May 8, or perhaps re-planned for late summer when, in 1945, Japan's surrender marked the end of the Second World War.
However, on May 8, modest home-made celebrations will have to suffice, and we hope many take place. Brigg Blog will be happy to post any pictures people wish to share.
