PLANS FOR NEW DWELLING NEAR BRIGG BOUNDARY SUPPORTED

Brigg Town Council is supporting plans to erect a new dwelling on the very edge of the town.
However, one councillor said they needed to be careful not to establish a precedent for future developments elsewhere.
Outline permission is being sought for land adjacent to 56 Bigby High Road.
No 56 is the last property on the right as you leave the town and head towards Pingley Park and the Garden Centre on the A1084.
A statement submitted with the application says the site lies to the eastern-most edge of Brigg, very close to the unitary authority boundary with West Lindsey.
It is described as an area of uneven paddock land, not previously developed.
Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee considered the application during its meeting in the Angel Suite Lounge.
Coun Jane Kitching was concerned about setting a precedent for other edge-of-town developments.
She said the Town Council endeavoured to be consistent over planning applications in what was designated as open countryside in the Land Allocation Plan.
Brigg Town Council has now North Lincolnshire planners: "Councillors had concerns that the proposal was in an area designated as Open Countryside and did not wish to set a precedent for granting such applications. The Council also wish to reiterate the proposed protection of the hedges on site."
Councillors moved on to consider an application to erect a single-storey rear extension at 30 Central Square (plans recently amended), raised no objections and agreed to support the proposal.
North Lincolnshire Council will now make final decisions on both these applications.
