BRIGG TO BE REPRESENTED AS COUNTRY FAYRE IS REVIVED AFTER ALMOST 100 YEARS

A fine box of Sciolti Chocolates from Brigg

Brigg will be represented later this month when a once popular North Lincolnshire country event is reintroduced after almost 100 years.
The Country Fayre will be held in the grounds of Normanby Hall, which was the family home of Sir Berkeley Sheffield, Brigg's MP from 1907-1910 and 1922-1929.
Among those with stalls at the fayre will be Sciolti Chocolates from Brigg, while the Brigg Mutley Crew Flyball Team will be performing.
Lincolnshire Craft Beers, which have Brigg's Yarborough Hunt pub, will also be attending.
We expect many people from Brigg and district to visit the fayre as paying spectators. Make a note of the date...

FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Normanby Hall has revealed exciting plans to revive the Summer Country Fayre on 26 August - nearly a century after the last one was held at the park.
The fayre is from 10am to 4pm and promises to be a fun-filled day of activities for all the family.
Visitors will be able to enjoy all the fun of the fayre, including performances from local singer Mary Daw, street theatre, pony rides, and dog competitions and agility shows from Jerry Greens, Scunthorpe Obedience Agility Training Club and The Brigg Mutley Crew Flyball Team.
The fayre is inspired by the historic Normanby Hall Agricultural Show that took place between 1886 and 1914, and featured penny farthing bicycle races, horseback events, military bands and athletics.

The show was so popular that steamboats were organised from Goole and Hull. There was an attempt to revive the fayre after the First World War in the 1920s.
Other attractions to look forward to on the day include animal handling sessions with Lion Learners, Punch and Judy shows, wood turning and carving demonstrations and line dancing, as well as fantastic food, drink, crafts and local produce from over 30 stallholders.
Stalls confirmed so far include:
Andrew’s Hedgehog Hospital
