BRIGG REC QUESTION ANSWERED BY COUNCIL

There was some debate at the weekend among sporting spectators about the purpose of the  brand new courts (pictured above) erected at Brigg Recreation Ground, as part of the major refurbishment.
People we spoke to came up with various ideas but North Lincolnshire Council has now confirmed that they are mini-tennis courts.
The first ladies' hockey match on the new floodlit "Blue Astro" will be played tomorrow, Saturday, January 14, when Brigg 2nds play Dronfield  (12.30pm push-back).
This will be followed by a Men's 3rd X1 game against Barnsley, starting at 2pm.
On Sunday, January 15, Brigg Men's 1st X1 will play Lincoln team Lindum in a premier division fixture, 2pm.
There's a "Super Saturday" of sport coming up on January 28.
Take your sandwiches and flask down to the Rec for the first opportunity to watch three hockey matches on the same day for the first time since the late 1980s, when there were three grass pitches for men's and ladies' use.
Fixtures on the 28th will be Brigg Ladies' 2nds v Epworth (12.30 start), Brigg Men's 1sts v Rotherham (2pm) and Brigg Men's 4ths v Wakefield (3.30pm).
Netball, tennis, football and cricket can all be catered for at the new Rec.

Yes, they are Kiddies courts. Appleby Frodingham Works Athletics club have similar at Brumby Hall. Annoyingly the original plans would have had a small breeze block practice wall (between the two mini courts I think), but this was left out in the final plans to save money.
