TWO FOOTBALL GAMES OF INTEREST IN BRIGG AREA

Two local football matches of interest to spectators in the Brigg area take place tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, January 7).
Briggensians will be playing Santon in a division three game at Sir John Nelthorpe School.
Meanwhile, Barnetby United will be hosting Scunthonians in a division one match at the village's Silver Street ground.
Barnetby secretary Lee Fielden tells us that tomorrow's visitors joined the Scunthorpe League in 1963 as Old Scunthonians before joining the Lincs League in 1966.
In 1968 they rejoined the Scunthorpe League, and changed their name to Scunthonians in 1969.
They were Division 2 winners in 1989-90, 1st division winners in 1999-2000, Hospital Cup winners in 1999-2000 and 2000-01 and Challenge Cup winners in 2002-03.
In 2014-15 they lifted the Barton Brotherhood Cup. Last season, Scunthonians finished runners up in the 2nd division and also the Barton Brotherhood Cup.
They currently lie in 5th place, level on points with Barnetby, having gained 6 points from their 5 games.
They have picked up all of their points away from home with 4-0 and 2-1 victories at Bottesford and College respectively.
Andy Pontin will be refereeing tomorrow's Barnetby v Scunthonians game (2pm KO).
