ROUTE THROUGH BRIGG TOWN CENTRE NEEDS TO BE KEPT CLEAR AT ALL TIMES

Brigg Blog has banged on for a very long time about the number of vehicles to be seen in the so-called pedestrian area. So much so that some of our followers may be getting a bit fed up of reading about this topic.
However, this picture - taken recently by our friend Ken Harrison - again causes Brigg Blog to flag up the need to keep a very clear route available through the pedestrian area at all times.
Vehicles from the East Midlands Ambulance Service were answering a 999 call from premises on Wrawby Street and did make it through OK.
Ken notes that  when he took the picture our main thoroughfare was already restricted by the stalls of the Thursday market, "although while the crew were attending to the emergency, it was observed that a van was travelling the wrong way along Wrawby Street (not the one in the picture).
"The van did not create a hindrance to the ambulances on their departure, but perhaps the potential was there and the incident reflects the need for more stringent reinforcement of the traffic regulations of Brigg's pedestrian zone."
Everyone who takes a vehicle into the pedestrian zone, under whatever circumstances, needs to ensure that a way in and out for emergency vehicles remains at all times. And especially when the market stalls are out. Fire engines, obviously, are larger than ambulances.
The authorities should take careful note of this posting, we suggest. Some vehicles, in some circumstances, have a right to enter the pedestrian zone. But certainly not all of them you see on your travels down Wrawby Street and the Market Place.
