TENDERS INVITED FOR BRIGG RIVER LITTER-CLEARING

Brigg Town Council is to invite tenders for cleaning litter from the River Ancholme.
One company has already shown an interest.
It could take up to six weeks before the tender period is complete and quotes are considered, with a view to agreeing a contact.
Litter often gets tangled up with weed during the summer months and remains there for some time, making the river look untidy.
The annual spring clean will still go ahead in May, with volunteers scouring the towpath and nearby foliage,  picking up accumulated litter.
Our picture shows the spring cleaning team near the County Bridge last May - about to set off down the towpath towards the motorway bridge, collecting litter.
