HARD WORKER FOR COMMUNITY

A lovely letter of appreciation from the family of the late Chris Gunnee was read at Brigg Town Council’s monthly meeting.
He was a former long-serving councillor and ex-Town Mayor, who died aged 93. The letter, penned by his son Peter, thanked the Town Council for its condolences and support.
Retired steelworks engineer Mr Gunnee, who lived in St Helen’s Road for many years, was highly regarded a tireless worker for the community.
This fine picture – courtesy of Wrawby’s Ken Harrison – shows Chris at a Classic Car Night in Brigg. Tinkering with old cars was one of the former councillor’s interests over many years.

Obviously this picture was taken a few years ago, Nige....I still remember taking it....I received a constructive lecture on turbo-chargers. Chris had an active mind and body; was positively blunt in his opinions, very independent and never seemed to regard himself as elderly, which he appeared to perceive as a state of mind...he was one of Brigg's great characters.
