BARGAINS ON OFFER TODAY

The Ambience gift shop in Wrawby Street, Brigg, is holding the last day of its closing down sale today, with 75 per cent off everything. Leaflets advertising the fact are being handed out to town centre shoppers as they pass by.

Scribs - count the number of post-Christmas, unopened shops in Brigg.

There are rumours that some have not re-opened because of burst-pipes, while other talk suggests some shop have ceased trading. Some have been closed long-term...

My list of closed/unopened/closing premises, include:

Can't remember proper names...

1. The Outside Adventure Shop near the Bridge,
2. Ambience,
3. The bridal shop- ?Babara Leigh,
4. The long established unopened shop opposite the Deli
5. A ladies fashion shop,
6. Long-term unopened retail premises in Market Place.
7. Ian Cawsey's old office,
8. A shop - previously a butchers
9. The old Queens Arms
10.

(this list may not be exclusive)

At a recent Brigg TC meeting I heard someone, misleading say that they thought only 2 outlets were closed/vacant in Brigg's high street!

How many of the above are pretending to be dead?

Funny dont you think that ex mayor Truepenny was published in the Telegraph when he was in office saying the recession has bypassed Brigg" and how difficult he found it to find premises for his shop and at a recent full council meeting to discuss the Tesco/Lidl situation one of the councillors stood and said that "Brigg was Booming" I can categorically say things are far tighter than traders are letting on, this is the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
