BRIGG BLOG'S MARKET RASEN RACES PREVIEW OF THE SUMMER FAMILY EXTRAVAGANZA MEETING

FROM MARKET RASEN RACECOURSE

Market Rasen Racecourse’s summer Family Extravaganza racing fixture supported by independent Lincolnshire bookmaker Don Noble will be held for the 21st time.
The Don Noble Family Extravaganza on Sunday, 8th July, includes a visit by Chase & Marshall from Paw Patrol with appearances at intervals during the afternoon, a kids’ carnival in the Lawn Enclosure, pony rides and face painting, a treasure hunt, the Don Noble Kids Races on the track, two pony races, as well as lots of other free entertainment for children.
The event has gone from strength to strength over the years, with families descending on the Lincolnshire track for a fun day out combined with exciting jump racing.
As always at non-music events at the racecourse, all accompanied under 18s are admitted free of charge. There is also a special Family Pass available to purchase in advance – two adult tickets (with up to four children) in the Tattersalls Enclosure, two race-day programmes and a goodie bag for £25.
With so many fun activities from which to choose, visitors should not forget to take the littles ones to try out the racecourse’s fabulous new playground. With equipment to suit all ages and ideal for group or single play the kids will be wowed by their day at the races.
All three enclosures at the racecourse – County, Tattersalls and Lawn – will be open, offering visitors a choice of where to watch the races and enjoy refreshments. Adult tickets for the Lawn Enclosure start from £9 in advance (£10 on the day).
Gates at the racecourse will be open from 12.15pm when the fun starts. The two Charles Owen-sponsored pony races, designed to encourage the jockeys of the future, take place in advance of the first race for professional jockeys at 2.15pm. The finale is at 5.25pm.
Nadia Powell, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “The annual summer Don Noble Family Extravaganza is always one of the most popular family events at the racecourse – and the 21st year next month promises to be no exception, with the special attraction of appearances at intervals from Chase & Marshall from Paw Patrol. We are delighted to welcome Don Noble Bookmakers as one of the best-known companies in the county of Lincolnshire and our valued sponsor for over two decades.”
The feature race is the £20,000 Don Noble Handicap Hurdle. The card also includes the Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle which is run in memory of the late jockey Tom Halliday who tragically died as a result of injuries sustained in fall at the racecourse in the summer of 2005. The afternoon concludes with the Don Noble Bookmaker Handicap Hurdle which is for lady amateur riders.
Advance purchase prices for adults: County Enclosure £18.90 (£21 on the day); Tattersalls £14.40 (£16); and Lawn Enclosure £9 (£10). More information is available – and tickets can be purchased  at www.marketrasenraces.co.uk
