WELL-KNOWN COMPANY GIVEN THE GO AHEAD TO EXPAND IN BRIGG

A well-known company looking to expand in Brigg after outgrowing its current premises has been given the go ahead to do so.
Quainton and Kaines, based on the Ancholme Business Park, off Atherton Way, successfully sought seeking planning permission from North Lincolnshire Council for  phased development.
This involves erecting  a two-storey office building and portal frame buildings for manufacturing and indoor storage, and the erection of a covered shelter area (including demolition of existing office and warehouse block).
A statement submitted to the council with the application said QK Honeycomb Products Ltd, formerly Quinton & Kaines (Holdings) Ltd, was a subsidiary of Tex Holdings plc,  publicly quoted on the London Stock Exchange.
QK Honeycomb Products was described as the UK’s foremost manufacturer of furniture for touring and motor caravans, mostly produced at the  factory in Brigg.
The submission said: "Our client QK Honeycomb Products has outgrown their current facilities situated on Enterprise Court, Brigg.
"Originally built by North Lincolnshire Council in the early 90s, it has served the company well but is no longer fit for purpose under the growth and demand seen by the business, in recent years."
The development involves increasing the current internal floor space from 538 square metres to 3,150 sq m.

A report compiled by North Lincolnshire Council planners concluded: "There are a mix of commercial uses in the vicinity. It is not considered that the proposed re-development of the site would have any adverse impact on the amenity of these businesses. The proposed buildings will  will be in keeping with those on the existing site and with the character of the area."
Brigg Town Council supported the company's application.
