BRIGG AREA FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT'S LANCASTER, SPITFIRE AND HURRICANE COMING SOON

Brigg Heritage Centre and the town's Air Cadets will be involved in a forthcoming heritage festival which will bring the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's historic Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire to our area for a flypast that's not to be missed.
Make a note of the date and time of  the event, involving the bomber and fighters which are based in Lincolnshire at RAF Coningsby.

FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

The next North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Festival is set to take place on Sunday 29 July at Skydive Hibaldstow with a special RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast.
Supported by the council, Northern Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Forum and Skydive Hibaldstow are working together to host the festival at the former RAF Hibaldstow airfield from 10am to 5pm.
The event will celebrate the eight airfields across Northern Lincolnshire and focus on the aviation history of the area.
The story of Northern Lincolnshire’s heritage from World War One to the present day will be told throughout the day.
We have been lucky enough to secure a special Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast with not just one but three planes!

The Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane planes will fly by at 3.10pm.
Throughout the day you’ll be entertained with live music from Miss Marina Mae and George Formby Experience. There will also be a range of food, drink, charity and trade stalls, airsoft and children’s activities.
A memorial ceremony is planned at 3.30pm. This is one of eight memorial ceremonies planned for each airfield across Northern Lincolnshire. It is a unique tribute for the RAF 100 commemoration, remembering the role that the personnel of these airfields played in both World War One and World War Two, in particular those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Northern Lincolnshire aviation history, Hibaldstow History Group and RNAS North Killingholme will have exhibitions on display.
You can also watch skydives taking place throughout the day, discover World War Two RAF living history displays and have a go in the Spitfire cockpit simulator. Classic cars and wartime transport will be on display.
Pennine Region Balloon Association are bringing tethered hot air balloons.
Brigg Air Cadets will be providing archery for visitors to have a go at.
Hibaldstow Astronomical Society will be there promoting the science of astronomy with a display of telescopes including the ability to view the sun safely, giving a view of the sun normally only seen at a total eclipse.
Brigg Heritage Centre are going to be providing activities for children to make crafts, decorate paper aeroplanes, hot air balloon making and colouring.
The festival is free but any donations are welcomed. All proceeds will go to the Northern Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Forum to help with the continued success of the festival.
Cllr Elaine Marper, cabinet member for Public Participation and Culture, said: “North Lincolnshire has a really interesting aviation history that people can discover and explore at the Aviation Heritage Festival. Last year’s event was a great success and this year’s is set to be even bigger.
“We’ve been lucky enough to secure a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight in the afternoon of the festival, which is a must see.
“The festival will offer something for all the family whether you are an aviation enthusiast or not; there will be lots happening throughout the day.”
