HOW GREEN WAS MY (ANCHOLME) VALLEY

There's green weed about on the River Ancholme in Brigg at present, somewhat spoiling the view for walkers and cylists using the newly-created Ancholme Valley Way.
But it won't be around much longer. A bit of rain creating decent river run-off should soon disperse things.
In terms of the green stuff, we've seen the river much more clogged than this in the past.

As a boater who likes to use the ancholme at least once a week from april through to october the duck weed & weeds in general can make it a nightmare to navigate, how the many rowers who use the river manage i do not know? Weather related i presume or perhaps someone else knows the reason/s it accumulates especially through the warmer months.
