BRIGG CAN TAKE PRIDE IN HOW IT REMEMBERS VICTIMS OF THE HOLOCAUST

Brigg Town Council holds a poignant service in the Angel building every January to remember the victims of the Holocaust.
There is also a Holocaust Memorial within the Angel and a remembrance book people can sign, provided by the town council.
Brigg has been marking Holocaust Memorial Day for many years. For a local authority in a town of Brigg's size to do this is admired far and wide by members of the Jewish faith and also those within the gypsy/traveller community.
As we all know, they suffered terribly under the Nazi regime.
Local schoolchildren attend the annual service at the Angel, showing a new generation knows about the Holocaust.
Brigg Town Council is now considering transforming all, or part, of the Millennium Green, off Elwes Street, into a Peace Garden, with a suitable sculpture in Ancaster (Lincolnshire) stone by way of a memorial to those with perished.
Coun Rob Waltham told fellow councillors: "There's a real will to progress this."
