'DANGEROUS PARKING' IN BRIGG CAUSING CONCERN

"Dangerous parking" of cars on a length of Atherton Way, Brigg, was raised by Coun Ann Eardley at the Town Council's latest meeting.
She said cars and HGVs were being parked near a bend  - on both sides of the road - and some vehicles were being left there until 6pm. "At school leaving time it's horrendous," she complained.
Coun Eardley wondered whether it would be possible to have double yellow lines installed.
Coun Rob Waltham, who is a member of the controlling cabinet at North Lincolnshire Council which oversees highways, said they were aware of the problem. However, this was an unadopted road. Next year it was hoped to upgrade Atherton Way's status.
Meanwhile, he supported the idea of contacting Brigg police and asking them to monitor this area of town.
Town clerk Jeanette Woollard stressed double-parking was contrary to the Highway Code, as was parking close to a junction.

I can't think of any town or village where there isn't dangerous parking. Broughton, where I live is dreadful. Not just cars half on half off the pavement but completely over the pavement meaning pedestrians have to walk in the road to get round. I have heard people say "well, you can cross over to the other pavement". No!!!! Pavements are for pedestrians.
