UP-LIFTING BOOST FOR BRIGG’S ANGEL
Brigg Town Council will not need to replace the lift at the Angel Suite – at least in the near future.
The council had been warned that it might prove very difficult to get spare parts for the lift, which has been in place since 1996.
But now a company has been found that is confident it can keep things running smoothly.
The lift connects the ground floor, near the rear entrance to the building, with the basement, which contains the Town Council’s offices and the Lounge.
The Lounge is used for meetings and is the location of the bar when licensed functions are under way in the former ballroom.
A small flight of stairs connects the two floors, but the lift is available to Angel Suite visitors who are disabled or have mobility problems.
Town councillors serving on the Property and Services Committee, which oversees the running of the Angel Suite, were very pleased to hear that major investment was off the agenda.
Brigg Blog attended the committee meeting when the good news was relayed to councillors by Town Clerk Jeanette Woollard.
And it’s fair to say that it gave them all a bit of a lift!
