DO BRIGG YOUNGSTERS WANT A NEW SLIDE ON PLAY PARK?

Brigg youngsters' views are to be sought about play equipment provision on one of the town's public parks managed by North Lincolnshire Council.
The slide on the Davy Memorial field, between Kings Avenue and Bigby Road, was removed on safety grounds some months ago.
Brigg Blog raised the issue of a replacement earlier this week, and Coun Penny Smith did likewise in the Questions from Members section of the Town Council's latest monthly meeting, held on Thursday night (July 16).
She explained that the Town Council had purchased the slide since removed from the field.
She wondered whether the North Lincolnshire authority would be buying a new one.
Coun Smith also suggested the nearby see-saw was rather stiff and "unmoving."
Coun Rob Waltham, who is the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council as well as being a town councillor, had a different view about the effectiveness of the see-saw.
He also admitted to being a fan of slides but suggested that, in this case, the council needed to ask young people what equipment they wanted, ahead of discussing the issue again at the next meeting.
Coun Carl Sherwood, who is a cabinet member of North Lincolnshire Council, said officers of that authority thought they had something suitable to replace the slide. That was some time ago, so he offered to check this point again.
Brigg Blog's picture above shows that the 'pad' for the slide is still in place, should a replacement be forthcoming. This should help to reduce the overall cost.
