FOOTBALL REUNION PLANNED WITH BEST WISHES FROM FORMER BRIGG SPORTSMAN IN AUSTRALIA

Former Brigg sportsman Simon Church has sent his best wishes to Barnetby United Football Club from his home in Australia.

To celebrate its 84th anniversary, Barnetby United is organising a reunion of current and former players and club members, to be held at the village's Whistle and Flute pub on Sunday, February 2, from 2pm until 4pm.
Club spokesman Lee Fielden tell us: "All team photos and league tables that have been collected over the years will be on show for people to see, along with paper reports and photos of football in Barnetby dating back to 1885.
"So whether you have an interest in football or not, but fancy some Barnetby sporting history, please feel free to join us you will be made more than welcome. Up The Railwaymen!"
Simon, who emigrated to Australia many years ago, has sent his best wishes to the club by email from his home in the Perth area. He's glad to see both Barnetby teams near the top of their respective tables in the Scunthorpe Saturday League. He follows their progress on the internet and also keeps an eye on Brigg Blog as one of our most far-distant followers.

Simon, like Lee Fielden, played cricket for Brigg Town Cricket Club over many seasons, and they were both educated at Sir John Nelthorpe School.
