Did you see the large lake which formed in Brigg on a section of the A18 yesterday, Friday?
We rounded the slight bend in the road, where Bridge Street becomes Ancholme Way, and had to steer well to the right to avoid deep flood water on the carriageway, following heavy rain.
It was so deep we feared the engine on our small Ford Ka might have conked out if we'd taken the usual route, tight to the kerb on the left, near Peacock & Binnington.
There have been problems before on this stretch of the road in recent months. You may recall some yellow advisory 'Flooding' signs were there for a time.
No doubt North Lincolnshire Council, as our local highway authority, is already on the case.
We should really have parked up near Tesco, walked back and taken some pictures of the watery scene.
Apologies for that but we we needed to get home and also it would have meant getting a soaking, given the bad weather. Another gloomy day today in Brigg, with further showers, makes you wonder who coined the phrase Flaming June!

The chances of conking out, Nige while fording a puddle has lessened with the introduction of electronic ignition.
In the not too distant past, damp use to creep in between the distributor cap and the points....a drop of water in that area and the car was out cold.
One car model that had a inherent problem was the mini....its distributor was directly behind the grille....even the threat of fog and the engine would splutter..
As an aside...while Brigg have a couple of stair-rod type rainstorms yesterday....friends in Hibaldstow said the only had a spit of rain...
You are right, Nige, there was a large area of standing water on that corner about 6 weeks ago following heavy rain.
Sounds like blocked road drain...and talking about drains, there was a lingering foul sewer smell in the Market Place and part of Wrawby St.
Wafted about the place like a heavy night on the beer...
