BRIGG FLYTIPPING UPDATE

BY PAUL JOHNSON, FRIENDS OF THE BRIGG LINE

Saturday morning was spent  talking to the British Transport Police and Humberside Police. The flytipping incidents are now getting serious again, this time with 2 large red gas bottles been dumped near the railway line in the coal drop area.
The new seating which was kindly paid for by Northern Rail has been placed inside the waiting shelters.
This at least will give some shelter if customers wish to sit down. Sadly. Network Rail's budget for replacing the waiting shelters has been blown so the Sheffield platform waiting shelter, which dates back to the late 1970s, is been held together at the rear with a large section of plyboard.
The station namboards have also gone missing during the construction of the non-ramp footbridge with only 1 remaining for both platforms. Northern Rail / Arriva Northern have been made aware of this.
