BRIGG TO GET NEW BIKE HUB TO ENCOURAGE MORE PEOPLE TO CYCLE

A new Bike Hub for men and women will be launched in Brigg tomorrow (Saturday 19 March) at 10am. A Breeze (ladies only) bike ride will also take place to mark the occasion.
The new bike hub is for men and women and will provide cycling facilities, a safe and secure place to lock bikes, public tool station, information point and workshops for local people.
It is centred on a cycle-friendly café – The Courtyard Café – and will provide a meeting point for Breeze and other Social rides in a relaxed and friendly environment, to welcome the new cyclist.
The new Hub will also act as a central information point for all things cycling, including cycling opportunities, local routes and maps, cycling groups and clubs in the area.
There are a few places available on the bike ride. It’s free. To book your place visit: www.goskyride.com/Search/Details?eventid=74389
Breeze bike rides are for ladies only in a bid to encourage more females to cycle. There will be two bike rides – nine mile and 27 mile for those wanting to go further. Both bike rides will set off from Brigg Courtyard Café just after the launch at around 10.30am.
The Bike Hub is a partnership between Sport England, North Lincolnshire Council, Welcome to Yorkshire and Cycle Yorkshire.
Visit our cycling network on Facebook:  Breeze Network NorthLincs – for details of other bike rides and to share experiences.
Coun Carl Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds), Cabinet Mmember for Leisure and Customer Services at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “North Lincolnshire Council is pleased to join forces with Sport England, Cycle Yorkshire and Welcomed to Yorkshire to encourage more people to cycle by creating the area’s first Bike Hub in Brigg. We have many keen cyclists in North Lincolnshire and we want to see more people take up this fantastic leisure activity. As a keen cyclist, I can appreciate the many health benefits cycling provides.
“Being largely rural, there are some great cycling routes that link up to the national cycle network and Sustrans routes, right on our doorstep. And with the Lincolnshire Wolds close by with the beautiful rolling countryside, cyclists are spoilt for choice.
“The new Hub will provide the ideal place to meet for a bike ride, get information on routes and relax at the café and share stories.”
