Brigg Town Council now has contracts in place with companies to provide routine cleaning of the Angel Suite, relief cover for the Angel Suite manager, and safety testing of all the "fixed electrical installations."
A deserved gold star if you knew the latter is a legal requirement under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

The EW Regs is a blanket safety cover and encompasses anything from massive electrical generators to lithium batteries...
I've heard of the annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of equipment that has a plug....ie kettle, computer......tv..
..but I assume the testing of a building's fixed electrical installations ...ie circuits earthing, consumer box,....switches......has to be checked every 'x' years......but why the need for a contract?
I can understand the need for a contract for work that emerges on a routine basis.....but for something that comes round on a longer term basis perhaps it would be more economical to put it out for tender.
