On Sunday morning we noted, with interest, about a dozen cycles propped up on the wall at the side of the Buttercross in Brigg - opposite the Lord Nelson Hotel.
It was a very nice day, in terms of weather, so perhaps they just fancied a ride out.
In the era before most families could afford a car, huge numbers of people biked into Brigg town centre.
But today do we have even one communal cycle-rack? Should one, or more, be considered for the town centre?
There's space available, surely, on the edges of the Old Courts Road and Angel car parks.
Or how about utilising a small area behind, or alongside, our police station in Barnard Avenue?
That location would be very re-assuring for the bike owning public.
Your thoughts are very welcome. Post a comment if it's a topic of interest to you.

isn't there a cycle rack beside ladbrook's.tesco has 1,another at bottom of wrawby street.
The lack of cycle racks about the town centre has been previously mentioned......
If we want to counter the increasing number of cars coming to Brigg, we must make Brigg cycle-friendly.
In addition, there are plans to create a cycle-way from Brigg to South Ferriby - It would be ironic and self-defeating if cyclists taking advantage of this riverside ride arrive in Brigg to find that there are few secure places to leave their bikes.
Peter is correct - but not everyone wants to leave their bike outside Tesco....and the only purposely designed cycle-rack is outside the Red Cross shop......
Sorry, Peter....yes there is a rack against the side wall of the bookies..
we could do a cycle hire rack like they have in london.but were ?,the unused land near tesco bridge comes to mind with another at sth ferriby.all this cash being spent on a cycle path to sh ferriby I'd like it if they could restore the bridge on the stow so can walk all the way to bishop bridge.
@Peter - I even suggested that once the cycleway was built, perhaps there could be an enterprising opening for a cycle hire shop in Brigg......or a 'Pay as Your Cycle' hire stands, as in Cambridge....
I even suggested the possibility of electric bike hire......but the power-that-be-official I was talking to thought I was being silly.
The cycleway is being promoted as a local attraction - a tourist attraction - but where's the attraction if folks don't have bikes to ride?
Someone with a bit of panache and access to bikes perhaps needs to complete the circle.....
