ADDITION TO BRIGG SCHOOL PLANNED

A Brigg school is doing well and now wants to expand its range of buildings.
Planning permission to erect a 3-bay portable building to provide office, staffroom and meeting room facility, is now being sought at Demeter House, Bigby Street, Brigg, 
Demeter, which took over the former Brigg Preparatory School, is asking North Lincolnshire Council for the required planning consent.

Pedants' Corner: On the application displayed by North Lincolnshire Council  it makes reference to "Portacabin" rather than portable building. It's accepted journalistic practice not to use registered trade names in a generic context. You should not refer to a vacuum cleaner as a  Hoover - unless it was made by that world-famous firm. There are many similar examples, including Perspex (for types of sturdy cooking equipment) and Thermos (flasks). Over 40  years  editing other writers' copy, many a change has been implemented before publication, to avoid  the possibility of letters of rebuke from the holders of trade names.
