Broughton - Brigg's neighbouring town - is poised to gain a new sports facility.
Planning permission is now being sought to install a multi-use games area (MUGA) with lighting.
The proposed location is the Phil Grundy Community & Sport Centre, off Scawby Road (Broughton Recreation Ground).
A statement submitted to the council with the application says the project has been prepared in strict accordance with Sport England and Football Association guidelines and recommendations.
It says the location within the site has been chosen to minimise any possible annoyance to the neighbouring school and private dwellings.
The MUGA will be used by local sports groups throughout the year for practice seasons and sporting events.
Use of the floodlights will be strictly controlled by the Phil Grundy Community & Sports Centre Management Team.
North Lincolnshire Council, the local planning authority, is now considering the application.

Anyone wishing to comment on this application can make his/her views known to planners by December 19.
