MANY BRIGG FOLK WILL BE GOING TO THE RACES ON BOXING DAY 2018

People from Brigg and district who are planning to attend the Market Rasen Racecourse meeting on Boxing Day are being promised a packed programme by the Lincolnshire venue. They are also being advised to set off in plenty of time so they don't risk missing any of the action.

The course says the Boxing Day meeting is a very affordable festive day out for families over Christmas.

Tiger Roll, the 2018 Randox Health Grand National winner, will be honoured at Market Rasen Racecourse on Boxing Day.
The horse, owned by airline boss Michael O’Leary, began his racing career in Lincolnshire on Remembrance Day in 2013 and it led him all the way to his glorious day at Aintree last spring.
The Tiger Roll Bar will be open for the first time during one of the most popular days out of the year, Rand Farm Park Boxing Day At The Races.
Every Christmas time, over 9,000 people descend on the Lincolnshire track with friends and family for a traditional and value-for-money sporting day out, with accompanied under 18s being given free admission.
Boxing Day racing at Market Rasen is always a great chance for families and friends to continue the festive feeling, with many people in Lincolnshire enjoying a once-a-year chance to go to the races. There will be real reindeers on course, along with a sleigh as well as Christmas elves.
There is entertainment for all ages, including festive pony rides, a colouring wall, giant Christmas tree giveaways, a Guinness marquee, a Salvation Army choir, plus a Mr & Mrs Competition with great prizes including tandem sky dives and tickets to Craig David’s Jockey Club Live concert at the racecourse next August.
There’s a packed programme of jump racing, including the annual Clugston Lincolnshire National. Like the ultimate Aintree race – the Randox Health Grand National - stamina is crucial for the Lincolnshire National, which is run over a distance of three and a half miles.
Tributes have been paid this week after Victory Gunner, who won the Clugston Lincolnshire National on three consecutive Boxing Days between 2005 and 2007, passed away in his sleep at the Welsh farm where he was born, at the age of 20.
Nadia Powell, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said: “Boxing Day horse racing at Market Rasen Racecourse is as much a part of Christmas as turkey, mulled wine and crackers. 26th December is always a very affordable festive day out for families over Christmas. This Christmas we are delighted to be honouring the Randox Health Grand National winner Tiger Roll whose career began at Market Rasen.
“Visitors who buy their tickets before Boxing Day get the best prices, so purchasing in advance is a great idea. I would also recommend people to set off in plenty of time to get to the racecourse on Boxing Day. The racecourse is clearly signed, with a number of routes in place and we urge all visitors to follow them and to get here early.”
The gates of the racecourse will be open from 10.10am when the fun begins for a first race time of 12.10pm. The final race of seven is at 3.30pm.
Adult tickets are from £11.70 in advance (£13 on the day) for the Lawn Enclosure. Tattersalls advance admission is £19.80 (£22 on the day) and County is £24.30 (£27 on the day).
