Question Time is in the news at present - David Dimbleby having just hosted his final BBC programme after 25 years.
But Brigg Town Council's own version continues - Public Question Time forming part of the agenda at every monthly meeting.
Townsfolk are welcome to attend at the Angel Suite and put questions to their elected representatives.
The Town Mayor - currently Coun Donald Campbell - is in the Dimbleby role, inviting questions from the audience.
The next opportunity to ask questions from the public gallery will come on Monday, January 21, 2019.
Brigg Town Council sometimes pencils in meetings on its calendar that are categorised as "in case of need."
This means that councillors will only convene if there's something particularly pressing that needs a decision or discussion.
The council's meeting this month was "in case of need" and provisionally arranged for tonight (Monday, December 17).
However, due to lack of urgent business, there's no need for a meeting.
We mention this to advise townsfolk who may have been thinking of attending to raise issues of interest to them.
Brigg Blog will give a New Year reminder of the January 2019 meeting. Public Question Time will be an early item on the agenda.
There's a very long-standing tradition associated with the December meeting of Brigg Town Council - councillors having a festive drink with the Town Mayor.
Back in the early 1980s, when the local authority still met in the ornate Glanford Borough Council debating chamber within what's now Hewson House, a bottle of sherry and mince pies used to appear at the conclusion of the December session. Members of the public and the press were then invited to enjoy refreshments with the Mayor.
The following decade, following Brigg Town Council's relocation to the Angel Suite, festive refreshments were sometimes served there, while on other occasions councillors met up after the meeting at a local hostelry. The venue varied, generating a bit of extra trade on a Monday night.
