FUNDING FOR FREE BRIGG CHRISTMAS MEAL TO BE ENJOYED BY ELDERLY, ISOLATED AND LONELY LOCAL PEOPLE

Very well-received when it launched in December 2016 at the town centre's Angel Suite, the Brigg Angels Women's Institute Christmas Meal is set to be repeated this year.
Last December the WI extended a warm welcome to the "elderly, isolated and lonely people" of Brigg to joined them over the festive period.
The free Community Celebration took place in late December and included a festive cold carvery buffet, varied entertainment, free raffle and a present from Santa.
Transport was also arranged for the less mobile.
The event in 2016 was funded by a generous donation from Brigg Town Council, Brigg Angels WI, local shops and businesses, along with local voluntary community groups.
At its latest meeting, Brigg Town Council agreed to make a £475 grant towards the 2017 event.
It will be held on Thursday, December 28 in the Angel Suite, from 2pm.
