BRIGG BUSINESS HAS ALTERED HOURS APPROVED

Planning permission has already been given so a well-known Brigg firm can move to a new location. Now, in addition, the company has just  been granted amended operating hours for its new site.
North Lincolnshire Council has told AF Carpets (pictured above, left) that the "uses permitted" on the former Trent Foods site, off Ancholme Way (see below) shall be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday; and 10am to 4pm on Sunday and public holidays.
Part of the site front the A18 was occupied until recently by a used car business.
AF currently trades from premises just round the corner on Bridge Street.
North Lincolnshire Council received one letter of objection to the amended hours application, from premises in nearby Bridge Street, the grounds for doing so including:
• Noise disturbance from vehicular movements
• Traffic noise during the day
• Use of site for retail will increase the number of vehicular movements.
A detailed report prepared by planners while the application was being considered said the main issue was whether the variation of operating hours would impact on residential amenity.
It explained the applicant was seeking to vary the hours of delivery and opening to allow the retail units to operate 30 minutes earlier Monday to Friday and an hour earlier in the morning,  and an hour later in the evening on Saturdays.
The applicant was also seeking to allow deliveries an hour earlier on Monday to Friday and 90 minutes earlier on Saturdays.
The officer's report concluded: "Given the location of the site within Brigg town centre, in close proximity to night time economy uses and the fact Environmental Health has raised no objection, it is considered that the variation to the site operating and delivery hours will not result in loss of residential amenity in this case.
"The hours of delivery will take place during social hours of the day and delivery vehicles will utilise the existing access from the A18.
"Inevitably there will be an increase in activity at the site (arising from the increase in the number of retail units), however this is a defined town centre site where shopping uses are considered acceptable."
