BRIGG GETS A TASTE OF SUMMER

Given the unusually mild weather in Brigg this morning we thought we’d seen a mirage.
Walking along Old Courts Road towards Wilko’s, we glanced to the left and a touch of greenery caught our eye.
Just visible between contractors’ vans and other construction items in the car park of the old  Black Bull pub were what appeared to be two palm trees, or similar exotic foliage.
The last time we saw  tropical-looking trees at a UK hostelry was while holidaying in Torquay, dubbed The English Riviera.
As the Black Bull car park is currently a building site and out of bounds to   long-standing customers, we couldn't get up close for a picture. Maybe later....
The Bull, which closed last June, is currently being transformed into Dexters Ale House and Kitchen.

I too noticed the palms, Nige...
But talking about beer and the old Bull....About 18 months ago, or thereabouts, the Bull was invaded by a mass of very friendly Aston Villa supporters enroute to a match against Hull...
Perhaps Brigg hostelries could benefit by advertising themselves with Premier clubs' travel agents.
Indicating Brigg's very convenient position, with useful watering holes in relation to Hull FC..
Arsenal are playing Hull in the FA Cup on March 7th, for example...
why not, therefore, try to benefit from the potential passing football trade that use the motorway system in the area...
'Don't get a pre-match drink in dull Hull...try Brigg beer..then cross bridge before you cheer!!!'
How's that for a advertising slogan, Nige???
