1940s MEMORIES OF THE BLACK BULL PUB IN BRIGG

Former Brigg man Cliff Turner, who we think might well be our Blog's most senior follower, has shared some memories with us of the Black Bull pub, in Wrawby Street, which is currently closed.
"I never thought when I was a young serviceman on leave that one day the Black Bull would close," Cliff says in an email.
"It was very popular with aircrew from Elsham and I saw quite a few Distinguished Flying Cross ribbons in there. The landlady was Mrs Jone.
"Soon after the war I was in the Bull and got into conversation with an older man. When we left my step-mother told me 'That’s the 75,000 man' .
"He had won Treble Chance on the football pools; I regret I have forgotten his name."
