FREE BRIGG NATURE WATCH

Relaxing with a can or two in the back garden of a friends' house in Grammar School Road, Brigg, last weekend - during a BBQ - we watched a colony of swifts circling high in the sky.
Within half-an-hour they had moved down to rooftop level, in search of insects. The birds were screeching and swooping above and between the terraces. What a great free show!
Brigg's swifts are an indicator of the changing seasons. It won't be long now before they begin the long flight back to Africa. They are a sign that autumn is not far away, despite the hot conditions that have prevailed of late.
