BRIGG COUNCILLORS TO DISCUSS PROPOSED NEW PASSENGER TRAIN SERVICE FOR THE TOWN

Brigg Town Council is to consider pledging its support for the proposed South Humber Rail Link to introduce a new passenger train service between Barton and Gainsborough via Barnetby, Brigg and Kirton Lindsey - through the Government’s £500 million Restoring Your Railway Fund.
Councillors will discuss the public transport initiative during their monthly meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, October 26).
Members of the public are welcome to attend this session which starts at 7.15pm on the upper floor of the Buttercross, in the Market Place (access from the side entrance via stairs or lift ). "Residents are invited to address the Council" early in the meeting if they have issues they wish to raise.
There will be an update on how Brigg plans to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with events in June 2022.
Councillors will also consider a call for the addition of a Brigg-born former servicemen's name to the Monument war memorial. Brigg Blog posted about this recently - view details here...
A decision is expected to be made tomorrow on a grant application received from Brigg Rotary Club.
Also open to interested members of the public tomorrow is a meeting of Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee, starting at 6.45pm in the Buttercross. It will consider the latest planning applications submitted in Brigg.
