MAJOR EVENT IN BRIGG WORTH A VISIT TOMORROW

A major event is coming up in Brigg tomorrow (Sunday, October 10).
After a gap last year caused by the virus emergency period, the Ancholme Head 2021 rowing race will resume along the river.
This Covid-secure event is being hosted and organised by Brigg-based Ancholme Rowing Club from its riverside clubhouse off Manley Gardens.
Rowers from various other clubs in the north and midlands will be joining Ancholme RC members to take part.
There will be events in the open, women’s, mixed, masters and junior categories - in quads, fours, pairs, doubles and singles.
Racing over the 2,750-metre River Ancholme course from Broughton Bridge to the M180 Bridge will be in two divisions at 11am and 2.30pm.
Prizes will be presented back at the clubhouse. Entries closed at the end of September, and many have been received.
This event will see spectators taking up various vantage points in the morning and early afternoon.
From the County Bridge or the car parks near Springs Parade and Riverside Surgery, they can watch the competitors rowing towards Broughton Bridge and later returning to town later.
The town's second oldest sports organisation, Ancholme Rowing Club was established in 1868 - four years after Brigg Town FC.

As competitors and spectators will need refreshments and other items on Sunday between early morning and late afternoon, those Brigg businesses which are open could gain some welcome trade.
