NEW INITIATIVE TO ATTRACT PEOPLE TO BRIGG ON SATURDAYS IS ON THE RIGHT LINES

New promotional literature has been produced for the internet and social media - aimed at attracting more people from South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, West Lindsey and North East Lincolnshire to visit Brigg by train on Saturdays.
This initiative involves rail campaigners and The Brigg Town Business Partnership and follows the resumption of passenger trains along the ironic Brigg Line, following a lengthy suspension due to industrial action.
People living some distance from Brigg are being urged to use the unique Saturday-only train service to visit our town.
The literature, featuring the Brigg is Best logo, gives train times from Sheffield, Worksop, Retford and Gainsborough to Brigg - and the return journeys available.
The first Saturday train leaves Sheffield at 7.55am, calling at Worksop (8.26am), Retford (8.40am) and Gainsborough Central (8.57am), reaching Brigg at 9.19am.
Times are also given from Cleethorpes and Grimsby to Brigg via Barnetby.
We think the graphic designer assigned this task has done a fine job and gather he also produces information posters for different railway companies.
Hopefully the weeks ahead will see a rise in the number of Saturday visitors coming to Brigg and popping into shops, pubs and eateries, as well as taking a look at the market stalls.
If the weather is fine, some of them might like to walk along the riverside Ancholme Valley Way from the County Bridge.

The current timetable operates until May 18, 2019. After that, we could well see printed leaflets produced to complement the digital material.

A damning indictment of higher authority here and a job well done too! A small body of people have decided to take matters into their own hands and achieve what they can by way of local initiative; what a shame other bodies can't, or even worse, won't throw their weight behind this issue - I will not mention them as we, and they, all know who they are. One of these bodies, and A.N. Other came up in the conversation with a neighbour a few days ago, this neighboiur lavishing praise for all that had been done for the district although when pressed the only thing that he could muster in support was two hours free parking in Brigg - that's a lot of effort for a couple of quid off the visit to town in my view and an adoration for our representatives quite unjustified. Well done to the people of Brigg however, this initiative deserves success.
