BARNETBY RESERVES BEATEN IN FOOTBALL CUP FINAL

Sherpa footballers celebrating their cup final victory over Barnetby Reserves - March 2019

Barnetby United Reserves were beaten in a midweek cup final organised by the EC Surfacing Scunthorpe & District Football League which is sponsored by a well-known Brigg company based on the Atherton Way industrial estate.
Barnetby's Lee Fielden has kindly supplied a report and this picture of the winning team.

Sherpa seal first cup win

Sherpa turned league form on its head by beating Barnetby United Reserves 4-1 to lift the Barton Brotherhood Cup at Bottesford Town on Thursday evening.
They were faster out of the blocks and took advantage of a nervous-looking Barnetby to take the lead on 25 minutes.
This seemed to kick Barnetby into life and Dom McGuire ghosted in from the left to fire his side level soon afterwards.
1-1 at the break, Sherpa then retook the lead in the opening minute of the second half.
Barnetby struggled to get back into the game this time and were picked off twice on the break as Sherpa broke their cup final hoodoo at the 6th attempt to run out deserved winners.
