BRIGG TOWN THROUGH TO CUP FINAL WHILE BARNETBY SECURE WELCOME LEAGUE WIN

Brigg Town Football Club netted a place in the final of the Lincolnshire Challenge Cup with a 4-2 win at Louth Town yesterday (Saturday, March 23).
The Zebras will now meet Lincoln United Reserves, who won the other semi-final, to decide who lifts the trophy for the 2018/2019 season.
In the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League first division yesterday, Barnetby United, known as The Railwaymen, raised sufficient steam to enjoy a very welcome 3-0 home win over Crosby Colts (report below with action pictures courtesy of Lee Fielden) while Briggensians lost 2-1 at home to Limestone Rangers, with Sol Hari netting for the Brigg side.
Division two's top-of-the-table clash saw second-placed Barnetby United Reserves lose 4-0 away to leaders Epworth Town Colts Blues.

BIG BEN STRIKES THREE IN VITAL WIN FOR BARNETBY

Ben Hunt struck all three goals in the Railwaymen’s crunch game at the foot of the 1st division as his welcome return to his early season form saw him register his 1st hat-trick for the club.
A stunning volley in the first half was backed up by two clinical finishes in the second, in a game where Barnetby also had two goals ruled out.
It was not as easy as the scoreline suggests as Crosby had the better of the opening exchanges. Barnetby then came into the game and Hunt blazed a volley over the bar moments before striking another to open the scoring.
The Railwaymen led at the break for the first time in over two months and doubled their lead minutes into the second half when Hunt cut through the inside right channel to beat the keeper with a cool finish.
Barnetby were now in control and captain Scott had a header ruled out, Glentworth fired over the bar from close range and Brackenbury saw a long range effort narrowly go wide.
Hunt sealed the game when he calmly rounded the keeper to complete his hat-trick, and there was still time for Wilson to blaze over from close range and Glentworth see an sublime chip ruled out for offside.

Barnetby are in the black and white strip.
