POLICE COMMISSIONER URGED TO PAY BRIGG ANOTHER VISIT

Humberside's Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Grove, should return to Brigg to discuss the changes made to local policing, according to Coun Mike Campion.
When Brigg Town Council reached "Police Matters" on the agenda at its latest meeting, Coun Campion called for the Commissioner to make a return visit to a future council meeting.
Brigg police station's role has changed this year. It is now a base for family protection services***, rather than housing traffic and neighbourhood officers. The force has also been given a low rating in an inspection. Read more here.
Coun Campion told Brigg Town Council of concerns in Brigg about changes made in policing and suggested the Barnard Avenue station had been more or less mothballed.
He said the inspection rating given to the force should be "of great concern to us."
It was time the Commissioner was asked back and also time to consider reverting back "to the old system" of policing Brigg, which Coun Campion felt would be better and more popular with townsfolk.
Mr Grove, pictured above by Brigg Blog on his previous visit to address Town Councillors in the Angel Suite,  stressed at the time that Brigg police station would continue to contain serving officers who could respond to incidents in the town, if required to do so.
** Brigg Blog reported recently that a high-ranking police officer had spent a busy and very positive day with the PVP team in Brigg. We looked this up at the time and PVP stands for Protecting Vulnerable People.
