BRIGG TRAIN MEMORIES REKINDLED BY OLD PUB PHOTOGRAPH

Brigg folk who are interested in the town's railway history are strongly advised to visit the Dying Gladiator pub, in Bigby Street, where there's a superb framed picture showing the old goods depot, adjoining the railway station, in the 1950s or 1960s, featuring a row of wagons loaded up with machinery. It's an image we've never seen elsewhere.
When you enter the pub through the main door, turn immediately right and you will see the picture on the wall of the alcove.
On the subject of railways, we drove over to Cleethorpes on Thursday night to enjoy a nostalgic talk on this topic by Rob Foxon, from Leicester, who tours the country bringing back happy memories of locos and stations now long gone. It was a very well-attended event.
Copies of the current Telegraph Trains magazine were on sale. If you haven't yet snapped up a copy, visit Martin's, Bhatti's or the Spar shop on Atkinson Avenue.  They all have supplies.
