'YOU ONLY DIE ONCE' IN BRIGG

“Before I die....” How many times have you said this to yourself?
“Before I die I must organise my final wishes, how I want to go and most importantly where I want to go”
The trouble is we often don’t prioritise and actually do this as we are either too busy or always making excuses such as, I don’t know how to find out who to speak to, who to ask about taking care of my final wishes, well now is your once a year chance to find every answer under one roof at one event at The Angel, in Brigg, on Thursday,  May 15.
This is part of a week-long National Event which is in its 5th year, co-ordinated by www.dyingmatters.org
Gordon Tulley of Respect Green Burial Parks, who is the regional Chair of the Dying Matters Coalition, explained:  “We are based at Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe and as a large group of professionals we aim to bring every aspect of planning your last wishes together in one place where the public and end-of-life care professionals can visit and find all the local network of contacts for end-of-life care to help them find some piece of mind knowing who to contact and how to plan ahead.  We will be giving lots of free information such as Wishes Lists to help prompt you to record your wishes and lists of things you need to consider, plan and prepare to help those left behind fulfil your last wishes.
 Just some of those who will be on hand to offer professional advice;
·  Local doctors, information services, new opening times, home visits, internet service.
·  District nurses

We are honoured to have the Respect Carers Awards being presented at 12 o’clock  by Coun John Kitwood, Town Mayor of Brigg, and by Karen Jackson, Chief Executive of Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with deserving winners over the last few years being from North Lincolnshire Homes, NHS, Brigg Carers Support Centre and Lincolnshire Ambulance Service.
Gordon, who started the award scheme four years ago, said:  “It is going to be very hard indeed to choose from all the nominations for the region’s best carers. Freshstart at Alvingham Road Day Centre in Scunthorpe have been so supportive in helping to promote the awards and we have been inundated with nominations, we really appreciate their help”.
You can find the nomination forms on the back of the Freshstart magazines or download them from   http://respectgb.co.uk/information/downloads/
Gordon adds: "We are open to any suggestions and support. If you feel you or any of your team can help improve or add value to this award scheme we at Respect would be grateful for the feedback. We look forward to hearing from you soon."
