REMEMBERING STAN BEEDHAM - RENOWNED GROUNDSMAN AT BRIGG GRAMMAR SCHOOL AND FOOTBALLER

We were very sad to learn of the death of Stan Beedham, retired groundsman of Brigg Grammar School and Sir John Nelthorpe School and also a Brigg Town footballer of note in his younger days (we seem to recall he was a left-winger).
Stan, who lived in Wrawby for so many years, passed away aged 94.
He took great pride in his sports pitches at the school, over many years, particularly the cricket square which hosted county schoolboy matches, as well as being the home ground of Brigg Town Cricket Club.
During what turned out to be a lengthy retirement he could be seen enjoying long walks through the countryside.
Stan will be remembered with affection by Briggensians across the world.

Sad news about Stan , I saw Stan in the last few months at Abbey Village Care Home . He was one of the best groundsman around during his time at Brigg Grammar School . He also as you say Nigel used to walk in the countryside , always setting off from his home in Wrawby . He would walk as far as places like Kirmington and back and Stan would always be dressed immaculately in jaceket , shirt and tie . R.I.P Stan
