TESCO TO BE APPROACHED TO TACKLE LITTER IN BRIGG

Brigg Town Council's monthly meeting in the Angel Suite considered an email from an upset member of the public complaining about the amount of litter  near the former Lidl store which has now been taken over by Tesco
The complaint about the Spring's Parade area mentioned bottles, cans and discarded fast-food wrappers.
Town Clerk Jeanette Woollard suggested it was a matter for Tesco.
Coun Mike Campion said the emailer was not the first to point our the mess. People who dropped the litter were at fault. But he added: "Tesco, as I understand it, have a responsibility to tidy it up."
Coun Campion suggested Tesco needed to get things cleaned up regularly.
Coun Rob Waltham felt a very strong letter was called for, with a copy being sent to Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy to keep him informed.
Coun Ann Eardley suggested that installing  bins would give people visiting the area at night somewhere to put their litter.
