LET'S SHOW A BIT OF SENSE

Following on from our early postings about pizza boxes being discarded on Brigg streets, we produce a further exhibit on behalf of the prosecution. This litter bin near the Tintabs, close to the Monument, has an especially wide opening to take these boxes.
The authorities surely can’t be expected to do much more.
Meanwhile, at the recycling site inside Tesco’s car park, we noted this collection of what might be called “side waste” yesterday.

In Cambridge recently, I saw a recycling skip that was solar-powered.
It seems that it had a mechanism that compressed the load and in-turn, the skip could take much more material.

Consider the war-time slogan: "Is your journey really necessary?" The box North Lincolnshire Council provides for glass bottles is nowhere near large enough for my household's purposes. Driving specially to Tesco's bottle bank with the surplus more than defeats all the good work for the environment done by recycling our bottles. My carbon footprint becomes a dirty great bootprint! There I go, putting my size 12s in it again!

As an aside - the general siting of litter bins, benches and some streer furniture in general could be improved with a little thought.
For example, the litter bin, as seen in the photo near the TinTabs...it's sited on a grass verge, so the area around it becomes messy by default.....Why wasn't it placed against the public toilet wall - this would allow the verge to remain grassy green, while the litter bin remains just as efficient..................And how about the flower containers in the high street?............apart from them being vandalised (why dsoesn't the cctv pick up this?)...they are isolated, singularly placed about Wrawby Street..........as individual containers they are not big enough to make an impact......How about rearranging them in say groups of 3 about Brigg centre, while optimising the opportunities of cctv monitoring their day-to-day (or should that be night-to-night) security?

..........OR Brigg could learn from Scawby......I notice certain flower beds are sponsored by firms...In amongst the plants is a discreet sign indicating the sponsor....
